MIL Headbands
Dec. 11th, 2020 05:59 pm Mother-in-Law has requested headbands for Christmas. I've picked out two. Silly story: when I picked out the first, showed husband and his brother. They rejected it because the designer's example wasn't blue and mom prefers blue. The conversation hurt my brain a little. XD I can...make it whatever color I want.

There's a few more images posted here in my Imgur album.
Pattern(s): Started: 28 November
Complete: 11 December
Loop edge headband - red
I think this pattern will work better for a solid color thread. Despite husband's insistence, I know his mom wears a lot of red and basically wears holiday sweaters for a whole month.
Hook: Clover 1.50mm
Thread: size 8 pearl cotton (same as size 20 bedspread)

Chevron headband - shaded blues
Had husband pick the blue thread.
Hook: 2.00mm
Thread: size 8 pearl cotton (blue) and size 10 bedspread cotton (natural) head together.

- After some trial and error, decided it should be 7 stiches wide instead of 5. I am using smaller hook.
- Ahem, may have mindlessly crocheted for some time without paying attention and had to rip back. :)
- Going with 18" total length instead of stitch/loop counts, the width finished is slightly more than 1"
- Finished this one 12/8, after multiple days unable to work on it.

- wanted to use the hair elastic as back idea, so here's what I did to start:
- cast 5 sc on to the hair tie, ch 1, turn.
- sc in next 2 stitches, 3 sc in next, sc in final 2 stitches
- this gives you the correct stitch count (7) to continue with pattern.
- to end:
- sl st in the first 2 stitches.
- line hair tie up with top, work next 5 stitches as usual for pattern through the stitches and over the hair tie.
- sl st in the final 2 stitches, do not go over hair tie. Fasten off.
