I've not been around because the new house stuff has been eating my life. We moved into a fixer upper. So tons of little things to do, and a bunch of big things. All of the projects we are doing right now that need outside workers (plumbing, electric, etc) are done, so we can do things at our own pace instead of "I have to get these 5 things done before the plumber appointment!"

This week the main floor laundry area will be done and that will save me a lot of frustration and energy. Stairs are no longer my friend.  The last thing we need to do is put down the new vinyl floor.

I really need to get back into regular craft time and ....yikes do I have the time to make anything for holiday gifts?

So....we are in the process of finding a fixer upper to buy. That's what our $ stretches to and Mr is quite handy. However, I'm chronically ill and have been living in this house for years with a partner who resists getting rid of things, especially when there's space to stash it out of sight. House has a LOT of storage. He "fills his container."

Since I won't have crafting energy for a while due to this, I'm going to talk about the large scale decluttering project.

*started doing notes in red and strikethroughs for finished areas.

Basement - this is actually pretty good. Only remaining is Mr's stuff  to sort (fishing gear, computer workshop items). Parents helped me tidy the tools area and I've done the seasonal linens storage. Also Mr sold the exercise equipment and kayaks this week!

Kitchen -- finished the drawers (9 of them) and cabinets (12).  I'd started trying to spring clean it prior to all of this. Many items have been passed to younger cousins or donated.
  • pantry/back door closet - only part remaining. done 7 June!
    • spice organizer - esp as I no longer bake frequently, many of these need to be thrown out.
    • gardening tools - I keep a few things in here but they should move to the shed, so all similar items are together.
    • shoes - Mr has a hard time getting rid of busted out shoes. I should pull them all together from various parts of the house and see if they will be let go.
Bedroom - this is a lot of stuff to organize, it's not as bad as it sounds.
  • Clothes - I sorted a year ago but more stuff should go (also more Mr shoes).
  • Closet 2 - a little nook backing the pantry into the bedroom, I think it only has the folding chairs & dining room table leaf, needs checked.
  • Paperwork - bad habit of making a "to be filed" box and not filing it. :D
  • Crafts - some in main closet, some on shelf unit in the room. I've tidied some already.
    • items pulled back into bedroom from living room WIPs area need put away.
    • acrylic and kitchen cotton yarn is a mess - I didn't put things away.
    • fabric storage - get a different tote from basement. No reason to use two small totes, those could be used for other things! Made a specific rag bag as well. These never should have been smashed together.
  • Keepsakes - I've been slowly working on these, but what's unfinished is under the bed. I need to condense down.
Living & Dining Areas (kind of one large L shaped room).
  • Books - done, I've gotten rid of a bunch of stuff I haven't looked at in twenty years. More room for plant encyclopedias in future!
  • DVDs - I see some that area "mine" that I don't want, Mr may not let them go though.
  • My desk - has printer, mailing materials - ahem also some things to be filed.
  • Linens dresser & cedar chest - have some seasonal placemats etc stuffed in here that should combine with a couple tablecloths that are in the keepsakes area in the bedroom. Partially done 9 June - stuff piled on top of the dresser but the drawers & cedar chest are done.
  • Plants - I am behind on repotting into new pots I got for my birthday, this needs done so there aren't extra unused pots sitting around. Done -- finished potting the other day, tidied away the extra stuff in the tote and made sure labeled for moving. 14 June
Bathroom & Hallway - shouldn't be much to throw away.
  • Bathroom linen closet / medicine drawers - just needs tidied up, maybe some oldest towels should head to the rag bag.
  • Bathroom under counter cabinet - mostly cleaning supplies and extra shampoo.
  • Coat & broom closet - a few things that should go elsewhere, need a bin for vacuum attachments etc, and more of Mr's shoe collection.
Garden Shed - DONE - It just needed a general tidy and sweep. Threw out a few bits of trash (why did I put an empty potting soil bag in the shed? etc).

Holy crap, there's Mr's shoe collection in FIVE different places now that I'm looking.

Now that I've written it all out, while it is a lot it isn't as huge as it was in my head. Also I've finished way more than I realized!
