Shells in Square Afghan

For: unspecific, I had purchased this yarn on sale last year. 

Hook: G / 4.25mm
Yarn/Thread: Red Heart Roly Poly - colorway Sweet Pea - 4 skeins
Size: 32"


Notes:

• yarn says is weight 4 but feels like 3/DK to me.
• First skein = 15"
• 2nd skein = 22"
• 3rd skein = 27"
• border (on top of a shell row) - in sc, (DC + 1ch) 3 times, ch 1, slst into center of shell, ch 1, repeat. I used 2ch spaces before and after the corner DCs, wish after the fact I'd made this 5DCs with chain spaces instead.

Bavarian Stitch Placemats

For: me! I have 4 areas around the house that I wish I had seasonal decorations for. This will be "spring" for the table.

Hook: E/3.50mm
Yarn/Thread: JP Coats Royale Fashion Crochet Thread size 3 - in my stash for ages

• yellow - most of roll
• green - about 75%
• pink - about half
• orange - scraps

Notes:

• Selected the specific pattern as it has a chart, is rectangular, and is center out.
• Planning to see how far the yarn takes me. Orange will be the center of only one.
• Starting chain needs to be tighter than usual, my first try was unraveled because the center looked awful.

Frog reason: I like the pattern, and I like my thread, but not the two together. I should make the pattern someday as an afghan.
