Frogged:: Tapestry Pineapple Doily
Dec. 12th, 2020 07:27 pmPattern: Basic Pineapple Doily in Two Colors (Ravelry source only at this time)
Designer: Richard Sechriest
Started: 12 December 2020 - frogged & restarted 24 Oct 2022
Completed:
For: Mom
Hook: 1.50 mm Clover yellow
Thread: Perle cotton 8
Rounds 1-3 =1.5 inches (just under 4cm)
Notes 2020:
12 December - taking a stab at this again. I bought it over 3 years ago, just before my cognitive impairments due to illness began. It is difficult to work from written patterns that are non-standard (designer has made up own abbreviations for stitches to carry/hide other color). I've enlarged one of his photos, cropped it to just over 1/4 of the doily, and printed that out in black and white to use like a chart. Tonight I've re-read his pattern notes on how to carry the threads. I can do this. :)
13 December - Rnds 1-5. Took quite a while, a lot of this is untangling threads due to the process. I'm getting better at moving them though.
16 December - rnds 6-start of 9
Notes 2022 - when I picked this up again, and began working on it, I noticed it was cupping way too much. Then I realized I'd made a pretty bad error back at round 6. I started trying to frog back, realized that was a poor choice for tapestry, and cut off to restart.
30 Oct - after messing with the photo again, and even trying to color on it, I see that I'm going to keep making the same errors. I should use the same colors and the IDEA of the tapestry crochet on a different pattern. Marking this frogged.
