two hats with ridge texture

Pattern: Two variations as below. Made it up as I went along. Did refer to the beanie sizing chart (as always!) to determine when to stop increasing. I can never remember.
Started: 2 Feb 2023
Completed: 17 Feb 2023

For: myself

Yarn: Herrschners Worsted Wool Mill Ends - single ply, worsted weight, no label, 3.5 oz skeins

General pattern note: while increasing, the increase stitches are the FPDC. When finished increasing, added an additional FPDC in the center stitch between two FPDCs for additional texture. Changing these per row could easily make a different design each time.

Hat 1: extra large, pink shades. Made larger on purpose, and the higher starting stitch count makes this one flatter on top and less fitted (good for when I'm wearing headphones and a kerchief under the hat)
Hook: J
Starting round - 14DC in magic ring
Rounds 2-6: increase in the n+1 where the increase stitch is the FPDC (end diameter about 8.5")
Round 7: DC 2 times, FPDC in next stitch, DC 2 times, FPDC in FPDC from previous round.
Rounds 8-15 - continue following pattern established by 7.

Hat 2: large, purples and grays
Hook: I
Starting round - 10DC in magic ring
2-8: increase, where the increase stitch is the FPDC (end diameter was 7.75")
9: DC 3 times, FPDC in next stitch, DC 3 times, FPDC in FPDC from previous round.
10-16: continue as 9
17: made 2 FPDC in the lines that were the original FPDCs from the beginning, this gives a tiny flare instead of being flat against the head.
